Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sebastian, 1991 by Max Cole was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in December 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,550.00 (€ 2,271.31). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Max Cole achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mirage. 1986. in June this year with an auction result of CHF 24,700.00 (€ 25,279.05).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sebastian, 1991 von Max Cole im Dezember 2019 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.550,00 (€ 2.271,31) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Max Cole erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Mirage. 1986. im Juni diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 24.700,00 (€ 25.279,05).
