The work Portrait Of Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778) by Maurice Quentin de la Tour was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2007. The price achieved of GBP 144,000.00 (€ 213,873.24) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 120,000.00 – 160,000.00. Admittedly, works by Maurice Quentin de la Tour have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Jacques Dumont Le Romain Playing The Guitar in January 2009 with an auction result of USD 1,258,500.00 (€ 982,895.97).
