Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Maurice Leloir achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2005. In the MARITIME PICTURES AND WATERCOLOURS auction, the work A Poacher Peddling His Ill-Gotten Gains sold for GBP 720.00 (€ 1,067.09) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 300.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurice Leloir achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French The Boating Party in October 2009 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 33,886.82).
