Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait of Molly, daughter of the late Sir Arthur Pease, Bt., in a riding habit, holding a riding crop by Mary Lemon Waller for GBP 4,780.00 (€ 6,861.76). This price was achieved in the auction Victorian Pictures at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by Mary Lemon Waller have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in November 2007 by the work Portrait of Robert Berks Timmis, half-length at GBP 9,000.00 (€ 12,602.33).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November 2003 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Portrait of Molly, daughter of the late Sir Arthur Pease, Bt., in a riding habit, holding a riding crop von Mary Lemon Waller für GBP 4.780,00 (€ 6.861,76) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Victorian Pictures bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00. Andere Arbeiten von Mary Lemon Waller wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im November 2007 die Arbeit Portrait of Robert Berks Timmis, half-length mit GBP 9.000,00 (€ 12.602,33).
