Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Adoration of the Magi (B., Holl., L. 6) by Martin Schongauer was sold in the Old Master Prints auction at Sothebys in London in December 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,008.00 (€ 1,202.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martin Schongauer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Death of the Virgin in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 492,500.00 (€ 429,980.79).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Adoration of the Magi (B., Holl., L. 6) von Martin Schongauer wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion Old Master Prints bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.008,00 (€ 1.202,33) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Martin Schongauer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Death of the Virgin im Januar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 492.500,00 (€ 429.980,79).
