Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Martin Schongauer could be acquired at Christies in London in July last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 auction, the work Saint Lawrence changed hands for GBP 3,200.00 (€ 3,821.37) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martin Schongauer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Death of the Virgin in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 492,500.00 (€ 429,980.79).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Martin Schongauer konnte im Juli letzten Jahres bei Christies in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 wechselte die Arbeit Saint Lawrence für GBP 3.200,00 (€ 3.821,37) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Martin Schongauer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Death of the Virgin im Januar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 492.500,00 (€ 429.980,79).
