Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2012 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work Hawke's fleet at Spithead in 'The Year of Victories', 1759 by Mark Richard Myers. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 4,049.36) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mark Richard Myers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The cutting out of the Curieux, Martinique, 4th February 1804, which sold at auction in May 2012 for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,344.67).
