Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Guajiro con gallo (also known as Muchacho con gallo) by Mariano Rodríguez was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 487,500.00 (€ 433,873.26). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mariano Rodríguez - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pelea de gallos, which sold at auction in November 2016 for USD 1,087,500.00 (€ 1,028,077.14).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Guajiro con gallo (also known as Muchacho con gallo) von Mariano Rodríguez im Mai 2017 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500.000,00 – 700.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 487.500,00 (€ 433.873,26) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Mariano Rodríguez mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Pelea de gallos beobachtet, die im November 2016 für USD 1.087.500,00 (€ 1.028.077,14) versteigert wurde.
