A top price for Mariano José Fortuny y Carbó - as previously expected
In October 2002 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art and Fine 19th Century European Art, which included the work The Council House, Granada by Mariano José Fortuny y Carbó. The price achieved of USD 273,500.00 (€ 276,793.85) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Council House, Granada is the most expensive artwork by Mariano José Fortuny y Carbó that we have observed at auctions so far.
