Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work A Floral Still Life With Yellow And White Lilies, An Iris, A Sunflower, A Narcissus, Carnations And Other Flowers In A Terracotta Vase, Placed On A Ledge With A Lemon, A Lime And A Butterfly by Maria van Oosterwyck. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 110,500.00 (€ 84,486.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maria van Oosterwyck achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still Life Of Roses, Carnations, Marigolds And Other Flowers With A Sunflower And Striped Grass, In A Glass Vase With A Knife And String Upon A Marble Ledge in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 1,426,500.00 (€ 1,040,102.08).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2013 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Floral Still Life With Yellow And White Lilies, An Iris, A Sunflower, A Narcissus, Carnations And Other Flowers In A Terracotta Vase, Placed On A Ledge With A Lemon, A Lime And A Butterfly von Maria van Oosterwyck zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 110.500,00 (€ 84.486,58) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maria van Oosterwyck erzielen.
