This artwork by Margareta de Heer achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2013. In the Old Master & British Drawings including French Masterworks from the Dormeuil Collection auction, the work Still Life With Insects Around A Rose On A Stone Ledge sold for GBP 21,250.00 (€ 24,281.83) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Margareta de Heer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A red cabbage, a snail, a butterfly, a dragonfly, a bee and a wood louse, in a landscape, which sold at auction in May 2012 for EUR 61,000.00.
