Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Australian Still Life With Native Pears by Margaret Preston was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in November 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 17,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 16,800.00 (€ 8,663.37). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Margaret Preston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Native Flowers, 1941, in April 2021 with an auction result of AUD 504,300.00 (€ 419,202.00).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Australian Still Life With Native Pears von Margaret Preston im November 2008 bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 17.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 16.800,00 (€ 8.663,37) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Margaret Preston erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Native Flowers, 1941, im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 504.300,00 (€ 419.202,00).
