Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian Hakea by Margaret Preston was sold in the Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection auction at Sothebys in Sydney in May 2007. The price achieved of AUD 60,000.00 (€ 36,892.89) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Margaret Preston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Native Flowers, 1941, in April 2021 with an auction result of AUD 504,300.00 (€ 419,202.00).

Die Arbeit Australian Hakea von Margaret Preston wurde im Mai 2007 in der Auktion Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection bei Sothebys in Sydney versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 60.000,00 (€ 36.892,89) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Margaret Preston erzielen.
