Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2007 Sothebys in Sydney held the auction Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection, which included the work Australian Eucalyptus by Margaret Preston. The price achieved of AUD 60,000.00 (€ 36,892.89) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Margaret Preston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Native Flowers, 1941, in April 2021 with an auction result of AUD 504,300.00 (€ 419,202.00).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2007 führte Sothebys in Sydney die Auktion Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian Eucalyptus von Margaret Preston zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 60.000,00 (€ 36.892,89) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Margaret Preston erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Native Flowers, 1941, im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 504.300,00 (€ 419.202,00).
