This artwork by Margaret Preston achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Sydney in May 2007. In the Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection auction, the work Australian A Collection Of Miscellaneous Objects Gathered From Margaret Preston'S House At Berowra; Including A Selection Of Paint Brushes, Hat Pins, Pen Nibs, Two Leather Portfolios And A Leather Case sold for AUD 1,320.00 (€ 811.64) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Margaret Preston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Native Flowers, 1941, in April 2021 with an auction result of AUD 504,300.00 (€ 419,202.00).
