The »bidding war« ended at USD 9,000.00 (€ 6,656.80), 29% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Marc Antoine Michel Hamon Duplessis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An extensive landscape with peasants and travellers by a tent; and An extensive landscape with peasants and travellers, a town beyond, which sold at auction in December 2005 for GBP 11,400.00 (€ 16,546.46).

Die Arbeit Herders Resting Before Ruins von Marc Antoine Michel Hamon Duplessis wurde im Juni 2007 in der Auktion Important Old Master Paintings and European Works of Art Including Property of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 9.000,00 (€ 6.656,80) und damit 29% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
