A top price for Mao Dun
When the work Calligraphy of Mao Zedong Poem by Mao Dun was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 15,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at USD 81,250.00 (€ 75,948.78). This high result makes Calligraphy of Mao Zedong Poem the most expensive artwork by Mao Dun that we have observed at auctions so far.
