Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Marcel Duchamp by Man Ray was sold in the Innovators of Photography: A Private East Coast Collection auction at Phillips in New York in October 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 56,250.00 (€ 50,941.86) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Man Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 in May last year with an auction result of USD 12,412,500.00 (€ 11,566,955.55).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Marcel Duchamp von Man Ray wurde im Oktober 2015 in der Auktion Innovators of Photography: A Private East Coast Collection bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 56.250,00 (€ 50.941,86) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Man Ray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.412.500,00 (€ 11.566.955,55).
