Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Hammam Al Nissaa’s bil sham (Women’s public bath in Damascus) by Mamdouh Kashlan was sold in the Middle Eastern, Modern and Contemporary Art auction at Christies in London in October 2019. The price achieved of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,098.39) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 18,000.00 – 25,000.00. Other works by Mamdouh Kashlan have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in March 2019 the work A Rural Wedding (Damascus, Mezzeh Darayya) was auctioned for USD 40,000.00 (€ 35,625.22).
