Despite a disappointment, a good price for Maekawa Senpan
When the work Showa era (1926-1989) by Maekawa Senpan was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in September 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 408.00 (€ 348.18). Despite this disappointing result, Showa era (1926-1989) is the most expensive artwork by Maekawa Senpan that we have observed at auction so far.
