Despite a disappointment, a good price for Maekawa Senpan
This work of art by Maekawa Senpan could be acquired at Bonhams in New York in September 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Fine Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Showa era (1926-1989), 1955 changed hands for USD 408.00 (€ 348.18) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Despite this disappointing result, Showa era (1926-1989), 1955 is the most expensive artwork by Maekawa Senpan that we have observed at auction so far.
