Despite a disappointment, a good price for Lyle Ashton Harris
When the work Untitled (New York Times Pre-Election Self Portrait Commission), 2000 by Lyle Ashton Harris was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,750.00 (€ 4,078.30). Despite this disappointing result, Untitled (New York Times Pre-Election Self Portrait Commission), 2000 is the most expensive artwork by Lyle Ashton Harris that we have observed at auction so far.

Als die Arbeit Untitled (New York Times Pre-Election Self Portrait Commission), 2000 von Lyle Ashton Harris im Oktober 2020 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.750,00 (€ 4.078,30) den Besitzer.
