Born in Wusheng, Sichuan province, Luo Jianwu grew up in Taichung and graduated from the National Art Institute of Taipei in 1966. In 1987 Luo moved to New York for over a decade and eventually relocated back to China. He now lives and works at the foothills of Taishan in Shandong. Luo’s paintings of mountains and old trees evoke a deep connection between himself and nature. Luo is a self-taught artist in the ink and brush genre. Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2016 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Chinese Contemporary Ink, which included the work Dreaming of Han and Tang — Luchu Pine by Luo Jianwu. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 350,000.00 (€ 40,453.52), 17% above the upper estimate. Other works by Luo Jianwu have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of HKD 375,000.00 (€ 42,325.36) in November 2018 for the work Junipers on Jade Mountain.
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2016 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Chinese Contemporary Ink durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dreaming of Han and Tang — Luchu Pine von Luo Jianwu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 350.000,00 (€ 40.453,52) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Andere Arbeiten von Luo Jianwu haben noch höhere Preise erzielt - wir haben das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis von HKD 375.000,00 (€ 42.325,36) im November 2018 für die Arbeit Junipers on Jade Mountain beobachtet.
