Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Temples at Paestum by Luigi Lanza was sold in the 19th Century European Art Including Orientalist Art auction at Christies in London in May 2012. The price achieved of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,868.93) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Luigi Lanza - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Grand Canal with Santa Maria della Salute and the Customs House beyond, which sold at auction in June 2000 for GBP 4,112.50 (€ 6,518.82).
