This artwork by Luigi Lanza achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2010. In the Old Masters and 19th Century Art auction, the work A gondola ride before the Rialto Bridge, Venice sold for GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,312.53) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Luigi Lanza; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Grand Canal with Santa Maria della Salute and the Customs House beyond sold at auction in June 2000 with the realized price of GBP 4,112.50 (€ 6,518.82).
