Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work An afternoon nap (illustrated); and A cocker spaniel by Lucy Dawson was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 325.00 (€ 388.37). Admittedly, works by Lucy Dawson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Five studies of dogs including: A cocker spaniel; and A terrier in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,382.21).
