Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work David Hockney by Lucian Freud was sold in the British Art Evening Sale: Modern/Contemporary auction at Sothebys in London in June 2021. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 14,905,200.00 (€ 17,368,432.75), 24% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Lucian Freud have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Large Interior, W11 (after Watteau) in November last year with an auction result of USD 86,265,000.00 (€ 83,565,823.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit David Hockney von Lucian Freud wurde im Juni 2021 in der Auktion British Art Evening Sale: Modern/Contemporary bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 14.905.200,00 (€ 17.368.432,75) und damit 24% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lucian Freud auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Large Interior, W11 (after Watteau) im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 86.265.000,00 (€ 83.565.823,89).
