LOUIS STETTNER (1922-2016) Man Near Manhole, Broadway, NYC, 1954 gelatin silver print, mounted on board, printed 1981 signed and numbered '5/30' in pencil (mount, recto); credited, titled, dated [with print date] on affixed gallery label (mat backing board) image/sheet: 18 x 12 in. (45.7 x 30.4 cm.) mount: 26 1/2 x 20 in. (67.3 x 50.8 cm.) This work is number five from an edition of thirty.
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Man Near Manhole, Broadway, NYC, 1954 by Louis Stettner was auctioned at Christies in Sydney in August this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,512.00 (€ 1,394.96) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis Stettner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Urss in November 2015 with an auction result of EUR 17,500.00.

Die Arbeit Man Near Manhole, Broadway, NYC, 1954 von Louis Stettner kam im August diesen Jahres bei Christies in Sydney zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.512,00 (€ 1.394,96) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Louis Stettner erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Urss im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 17.500,00.
