Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work French an Afternoon'S Respite by Louis-Robert Carrier-Belleuse for USD 2,750.00 (€ 2,252.07). This price was achieved in the auction Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis-Robert Carrier-Belleuse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Bouquiniste (The bookseller) in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 36,000.00 (€ 53,422.19).
