Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Architectural Landscape With Figures Amongst Classical Ruins by Louis-Marin Bonnet was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,227.91). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louis-Marin Bonnet - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tête de Flore, which sold at auction in October 2008 for EUR 4,880.00.
