Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Australian still Life Into Landscape by Louis James was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 3,000.00 (€ 1,751.24). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louis James - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian A Window In Moncur Street, which sold at auction in May 2009 for AUD 7,200.00 (€ 4,074.02).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Australian still Life Into Landscape von Louis James im August 2008 bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 3.000,00 (€ 1.751,24) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Louis James mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian A Window In Moncur Street beobachtet, die im Mai 2009 für AUD 7.200,00 (€ 4.074,02) versteigert wurde.
