Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Magus Hermogenes Casting His Magic Books Into The Water by Lorenzo Monaco was sold in the Important Old Master Paintings, Including European Works of Art auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2009. It achieved a price of USD 1,426,500.00 (€ 1,114,104.97), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 19%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lorenzo Monaco - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Prophet Isaiah, which sold at auction in May 2019 for USD 3,615,000.00 (€ 3,242,443.27).

Die Arbeit The Magus Hermogenes Casting His Magic Books Into The Water von Lorenzo Monaco wurde im Januar 2009 in der Auktion Important Old Master Paintings, Including European Works of Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 1.426.500,00 (€ 1.114.104,97) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 19%.
