Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2008 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian the Red House by Lloyd Rees. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 16,200.00 (€ 9,456.72) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lloyd Rees achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian The Morning Ferry in November 2009 with an auction result of AUD 240,000.00 (€ 146,346.54).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2008 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian the Red House von Lloyd Rees zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 16.200,00 (€ 9.456,72) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lloyd Rees erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian The Morning Ferry im November 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 240.000,00 (€ 146.346,54).
