Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Insects By The Wheat by Liu Kuiling was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 150,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 562,500.00 (€ 66,395.14). Admittedly, works by Liu Kuiling have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Squirrels; Foxes; Rabbits; Cats in July 2020 with an auction result of HKD 5,575,000.00 (€ 610,816.21).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Insects By The Wheat von Liu Kuiling im April 2017 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 150.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 562.500,00 (€ 66.395,14) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Liu Kuiling auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Squirrels; Foxes; Rabbits; Cats im Juli 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 5.575.000,00 (€ 610.816,21).
