Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Ram, 1980 by Liu Jiyou was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,500 – 4,000, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,168 (€ 1,915). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Liu Jiyou achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work in April 2011 with an auction result of HKD 2,180,000 (€ 189,450).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Ram, 1980 von Liu Jiyou im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500 – 4.000 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.168 (€ 1.915) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Liu Jiyou erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit im April 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 2.180.000 (€ 189.450).
