Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Polychrome Ceramic Series – “Obsessive Memories” by Liu Jianhua was auctioned at Phillips in Hong Kong in May 2018, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 100,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 350,000.00 (€ 38,239.07). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Liu Jianhua - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Games (Polychrome Ceramic Series), which sold at auction in May 2007 for USD 168,000.00 (€ 124,879.21).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Polychrome Ceramic Series – “Obsessive Memories” von Liu Jianhua im Mai 2018 bei Phillips in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 100.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 350.000,00 (€ 38.239,07) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Liu Jianhua mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Games (Polychrome Ceramic Series) beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für USD 168.000,00 (€ 124.879,21) versteigert wurde.
