Despite a disappointment, a good price for Lin Yilin
When the work Missing Dolly by Lin Yilin was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 46,875.00 (€ 33,289.54). Despite this disappointing result, Missing Dolly is the most expensive artwork by Lin Yilin that we have observed at auction so far.
