Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Li Kai could be acquired at Christies in Hong Kong in October 2002 for an unexpectedly low price. In the THE CURRIER COLLECTION OF CHINESE CONTEMPORARY ART auction, the work Door with Grass changed hands for HKD 20,315.00 (€ 2,635.75) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of HKD 25,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Li Kai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Morning In The Forbidden City in April 2012 with an auction result of HKD 350,000.00 (€ 34,103.11).
