This artwork by Leonard French achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Sydney in March 2006. In the THE W.R. BURGE COLLECTION auction, the work Samos Island Series sold for AUD 13,145.00 (€ 7,758.79) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leonard French achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian The Crossing in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 156,000.00 (€ 95,921.50).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Leonard French erzielte im März 2006 bei Christies in Sydney einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion THE W.R. BURGE COLLECTION wurde die Arbeit Samos Island Series für AUD 13.145,00 (€ 7.758,79) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leonard French erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian The Crossing im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 156.000,00 (€ 95.921,50).
