Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Temptation Of St. Anthony In A Rocky Cavern by Léonard Defrance was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2020. The price achieved of USD 9,375.00 (€ 8,503.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Léonard Defrance achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Interior of an Inn with elegant figures eating and artisans playing cards in the background; and Interior of an Inn with mixed company taking tea in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 132,000.00 (€ 196,050.47).
