Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2007 Sothebys in Olympia held the auction British & Continental Pictures including Greek Art, which included the work Stormy Seas In Moonlight by Leon Kalogeropoulos. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,589.29) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Leon Kalogeropoulos - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work La Bataille navale de Limnos le 5 Décembre 1912, which sold at auction in May 2021 for EUR 5,355.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2007 führte Sothebys in Olympia die Auktion British & Continental Pictures including Greek Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Stormy Seas In Moonlight von Leon Kalogeropoulos zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.080,00 (€ 1.589,29) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Leon Kalogeropoulos mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit La Bataille navale de Limnos le 5 Décembre 1912 beobachtet, die im Mai 2021 für EUR 5.355,00 versteigert wurde.
