Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Begegnung/Rencontre, 1953 by Leo Leuppi was auctioned at Sothebys in Zurich in June 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of CHF 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for CHF 5,625.00 (€ 5,142.41). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Leo Leuppi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Stilleben mit Guitarre, 1931, which sold at auction in November 2002 for CHF 27,485.00 (€ 18,624.05).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Begegnung/Rencontre, 1953 von Leo Leuppi im Juni 2017 bei Sothebys in Zürich versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von CHF 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für CHF 5.625,00 (€ 5.142,41) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Leo Leuppi mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Stilleben mit Guitarre, 1931 beobachtet, die im November 2002 für CHF 27.485,00 (€ 18.624,05) versteigert wurde.
