In November 2001 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN & INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS, which included the work Song of the Secret Desire by Lawrence Daws. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 3,525.00 (€ 2,047.40), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Lawrence Daws have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lily Pool in November 2003 with an auction result of AUD 28,200.00 (€ 17,011.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2001 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion AUSTRALIAN & INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Song of the Secret Desire von Lawrence Daws zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 3.525,00 (€ 2.047,40) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lawrence Daws auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Lily Pool im November 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 28.200,00 (€ 17.011,69).
