Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work Sun Painting II, triptych by Lawrence Calcagno was worth GBP 4,750.00 (€ 6,567.13) to a buyer in March 2015. This price was achieved in the auction Modern British and Irish Art at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 800.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Lawrence Calcagno; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Red Bank sold at auction in July 2021 with the realized price of USD 12,600.00 (€ 10,620.36).
