Description
LARRY CLARK (1943-) Tulsa 1963-1971 Fifty gelatin silver prints, each signed, three contact prints with signatures not visible due to mounting, and each variously numbered in pencil (verso); each image approximately 12 1 ⁄ 4 x 8 1 ⁄ 4 in. (31.1 x 20.9 cm.) or the reverse; each sheet 11 x 14 in. (27.9 x 35.5 cm.); one of an edition of 100, plus fifteen artist's proofs.
Auction result misses estimated price range
In October this year a collector was able to acquire the work Tulsa 1963-1971 by Larry Clark for USD 12,600.00 (€ 11,922.79). This price was achieved in the auction A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Larry Clark have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Selections from Teenage Lust (1968-75) in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 56,400.00 (€ 66,462.41).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Oktober diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Tulsa 1963-1971 von Larry Clark für USD 12.600,00 (€ 11.922,79) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Larry Clark auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Selections from Teenage Lust (1968-75) im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 56.400,00 (€ 66.462,41).
