Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Unknown by Utagawa Kunisada II for GBP 470.00 (€ 675.42). This price was achieved in the auction AT HOME - JAPANESE CERAMICS AND WORKS OF ART at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Kunisada II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hell Courtesan (Jigoku Dayu) in November 2015 with an auction result of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 89,021.97).
