Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Chippewa Chief Peechekir, Also Called Buffalo: A Charcoal Head Study By Charles Bird King For A Painting Later Published In Mckenney And Hall'S History Of The Indian Tribes Of North America. Washington, D.C.: Circa 1830 by Charles Bird King was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 16,250.00 (€ 13,075.31) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Bird King achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Big Buffalo, A Chippewa in May last year with an auction result of USD 478,800.00 (€ 446,183.95).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Chippewa Chief Peechekir, Also Called Buffalo: A Charcoal Head Study By Charles Bird King For A Painting Later Published In Mckenney And Hall'S History Of The Indian Tribes Of North America.
