Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Workers by Kho Kiem Bing was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in December 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 10,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 4,375.00 (€ 500.36). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kho Kiem Bing achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Jl Semeru, Kota Malang in May 2013 with an auction result of HKD 118,750.00 (€ 11,776.26).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Workers von Kho Kiem Bing im Dezember 2019 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 10.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 4.375,00 (€ 500,36) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kho Kiem Bing erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Jl Semeru, Kota Malang im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 118.750,00 (€ 11.776,26).
