Sold at the lower estimate price
In April 2014 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings, which included the work Workers by Kho Kiem Bing. The result of HKD 40,000.00 (€ 3,720.26) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of HKD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kho Kiem Bing - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Jl Semeru, Kota Malang, which sold at auction in May 2013 for HKD 118,750.00 (€ 11,776.26).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im April 2014 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Workers von Kho Kiem Bing zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von HKD 40.000,00 (€ 3.720,26) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Kho Kiem Bing mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Jl Semeru, Kota Malang beobachtet, die im Mai 2013 für HKD 118.750,00 (€ 11.776,26) versteigert wurde.
