Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Kevin Appel could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2010 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Robert Devereux Collection of Post-War British Art in aid of the African Arts Trust, Sale 3 auction, the work House & Timbers 26 changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 448.12) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kevin Appel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 4 Tier Bookshelf in November 2002 with an auction result of USD 22,705.00 (€ 22,860.45).
